WHO DO WE HELP

Target group of the Association MIR are Roma and other ethnic communities

Because children who attend the educational centre of the Association MIR come from the poorest families in the neighbourhood Topaana, where they live in homes where there are no conditions for writing homework, daily visit the centre where from the educator receive the necessary additional help and support in the learning process. Except in help in writing homework students are also helped in literacy because many of them attend school irregularly and have difficulties in reading, writing, mastering the basic math operations, and some of them do not know how to read and write. Target group are also children from 3.5 to 5 years of age who attend the program for early childhood development. This program aims to promote health and foster intellectual, emotional, physical and social development of Roma children. These children also work on improving communication and interaction of the Macedonian language, because kids at home and on the street speak only their native language - Roma and later in school have a problem in communicating with teachers.

This group of children at the same time are prepared for inclusion in kindergarten. Apart from students the Association MIR helps students and their families and other residents from settlement Topaana by providing public information, assistance in filling certain documentation, assistance in achieving social rights, referral to appropriate institution etc. Raising awareness about certain social problems regularly is conducted workshops on various topics and is conducted health checks and immunisations of children from 0-18 years of settlement Topaana. Citizens, who exercise their right to social and health care, are also target groups of the Association MIR. The office of the Association has working hours and it is open for working with parties who obtain the necessary information and are referred to relevant institutions. Association MIR has wide reputation with its services to the citizens, because they know it is a place where they can obtain the necessary detailed information for exercising their rights.
